Conservation Program for Sustainable Development

About the program

Program that promotes the conservation of the ecosystem and biodiversity through the direct and effective participation of local people in the processes of land management, the sustainable use of resources, the protection and restoration of said resources and the economic appraisal of environmental services they provide to society, so that alternative productive opportunities are generated and contribute to improving the quality of life of the inhabitants in the vicinity of protected natural areas and other forms of conservation.

Objectives

General objective

Promote the conservation of ecosystems and biodiversity in priority regions through sustainable use of them with equal opportunities for women and men, with emphasis on the indigenous population of the towns.

Specific objectives

  • Promote sustainable development of settled communities in priority regions, promoting the adoption and practice of productive activities that are ecologically and economically appropriate to the characteristics of each region.
  • Strengthen local management capacities, through the equal participation of women and men in the planning and scheduling of institutional and social actions around common objectives for conservation and sustainable development of localities in priority regions.
Components and/or products

Products or types of support provided by the program are:

  • Technical studies: They consist in the preparation of studies that constitute tools for planning, programming and evaluation regarding strategies and action plans for conservation and sustainable development of localities in priority regions.
  • Projects: Establishment, construction and / or maintenance of environmental and productive infrastructure.
  • Training courses: Support which aims to provide courses and / or training workshops related to the established lines of action for conservation and sustainable development.
Target population

Women and men 18 or older, legal entities, including “Ejidos” and Communities, and organized groups other than legal entities, which can be proprietors, owners or holders, usufructuary or users of natural resources within the priority regions.
